Kinomax and Mirage cinema chains
This investigation is dedicated to two major federal cinema chains: Kinomax and Mirage-Cinema, which are engaged in showing stolen Hollywood content throughout Russia. The total number of halls of these cinema chains is more than 400.
Kinomax cinema chain (www.kinomax.ru) has its head office in Moscow. Mirage-Cinema chain (www.mirage.ru) in Saint-Petersburg. The investigation showed - the data of the cinema chain does not hide the fact that they show pirated films. All information is presented on the main pages of their websites.
The Kinomax and Mirage-Cinema chains are illegally showing pirated content, offering their viewers actual films being showed abroad. Since viewers still want to watch quality movies first, these organizations began stealing copies of Hollywood premieres almost from the beginning of the aggressive war unleashed by Russia. At the same time, cinemas fulfill their obligation to show propaganda films produced by Russia. Thus, it turns out that with the help of Hollywood pictures they pay for the propaganda of war.

The Russian government is working to strengthen censorship in the country. According to experts, the Russian Federation plans to significantly or completely stop the operation of the YouTube service, since it cannot censor all the content posted on this resource.
In this regard, Russia is actively creating alternative applications to replace YouTube. The main such applications are RuTube and VKVideo. These services can be installed on Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) phones, including in the United States.
Since these services cannot compete with YouTube in terms of the quantity and quality of private content, channels of popular bloggers, and usability of video hosting in general, they provide access to all the main well-known movies and series from all major studios for free.
We estimate the damage to the U.S. movie industry from the operation of these services in the amount of at least $1,000,000 per month.

This investigation is dedicated to regional cinema chain “Charly” and stand-along movie theater “Bolshoi”, which are involved in showing of stolen Hollywood content. It shows up that not only federal cinema chains, but small cinema chains and regional theaters involved to criminal piracy industry.
Charly cinema chain (www.kinocharly.ru) has its head office in Rostov-on-Don. The cinema chain does not hide the fact that it carries out piracy activities - tickets for stolen films are sold on the website of the cinema chain. At the same time, at least two owners of the cinema chain constantly travel abroad. In Europe and the UK, their assets are registered on the name of their children - real estate, cars and even some businesses.
“Bolshoi” movie theater (www.bolshoikino.ru) also situated in Rostov-on-Don. However, the sale of tickets for stolen films is organized through the virtual cinema “FreeTownCinema” (www.freetowncinema.ru). Probably to the usage of such an umbrella brand is concerned with the fact that the owner of the cinema also has an amount of assets abroad, registered on the name of his family members - his wife and older sons
